KB Motorsports is a family owned and operated race team. The "team" is comprised of Rob and Kathy Gray. Rob is the driver of the #17g modified race car that competes at Springport Motor Speedway in Springport, Michigan. Kathy is the team manager as well as providing tire tech and crew chief duties on race nights.
KB Motorsports was started in 2004. The team raced their first season in the Sportsman division at Berlin Raceway in Marne, MI with Rob capturing 2 heat race wins in his rookie season. In 2005 after having some seat time, the team continued to improve and became more competitive. They finished the season with 1 heat win, several consi wins and a 19th place finish in point standings only racing half of the schedule. The 2006 season started out with some promise but turned into a disaster. Mechanical gremlins plagued the team all season, dashing the team's hope of capturing that elusive feature victory in the Sportsman division. KB Motorsports' season was ended prematurely by a crash that would destroy the teams equipment.
After the 2006 season, the Gray's took a hiatus from racing to concentrate on building their family and planting roots. Coming back in 2010, the team ran random races and had some success. Since then KB motorsports has been rebuilding their team to compete in the highly competitive open wheeled modified division.
